Chuck Spang has spent decades behind the lens at the intersection of music, commerce, and art. A lifelong music fan with a photographer’s eye, Chuck built his career shooting for some of Western New York’s biggest brands before taking his work to New York City, where he spent years in the commercial and fashion photography world — collaborating with top advertising agencies and working across fashion, still life, and travel.

Through it all, the music never stopped. Chuck has photographed some of the most iconic artists in rock history — Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and the Grateful Dead among them — accumulating an archive of concert images that spans several decades of American music culture. These photographs capture the raw energy of live performance: the sweat, the light, the moment.
